Mary Jane Maharry began her public relations and marketing career with non-profit arts and entertainment organizations at Carol Fox & Associates (CF&A) in 1995. There she worked with a wide array of clients including Lookingglass Theatre, the Museum of Contemporary Art Performance Series, Old Town School of Folk Music, Ballet Chicago, Blue Man Group and the Dalai Lama among others.
Maharry started Brava Public Relations in 2000. Since it’s inception, Brava has worked with some of the finest theater, entertainment, and non-profits in the city of Chicago. Some of Brava’s theater clients include The Kiss Kiss Cabaret, Barrel of Monkeys, Curious Theatre Branch, Chicago Slam Works, the long-running production of “Hizzoner”, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, NightBlue Performing Arts Company and Kokandy Productions among others. Dance companies include Alyo Children’s Dance Theatre, Melissa Thodus and the Ruth Page School of Dance. Brava has represented authors such as Loreen Niewenhuis and Sheila Flaherty. Finally, Brava has handled special events for Uncommon Ground Coffeehouse and Milly’s Orchid Show. She is also the publicist and social media manager for the Village of Homewood.
In addition to her publicity work, Maharry’s marketing experience spans from creating comprehensive marketing and ad plans to copy writing for direct mail postcards, posters, flyers and beyond. Additionally, she creates creative promotional and advertising plans to fit all sizes and budgets.
My goal as a publicist is to garner the most coverage possible, exploring all angles and helping to create a successful event for the overall wellbeing of your organization.
